An introduction to the writings of Brian Haddock

A lifetime of work consolidated into books and collections

I have been writing in some form or another since my teenage years, but it wasn’t until the rise of the Internet that I began creating and maintaining extensive bodies of work. Around 1995, I launched a website for children featuring science articles and nearly a hundred science experiments. Shortly afterward, the site gained recognition as one of the top 10 science websites by The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose. I followed up with a website covering paranormal events and esoteric news. This website was equally recognized and successful, which naturally led to more websites.

Throughout the next thirty years, I continued creating new websites centered on topics that intrigued me, like history, science, technology, the paranormal, sports and outdoors, and religion. After we adopted a young girl who had been a victim of physical and sexual abuse, I launched a website aimed at helping child abuse victims. This site not only offered support but also delved into the underlying causes of the child abuse epidemic.

Over the years, the websites continued to garner praise. One was featured in the New York Times. The Washington Post referenced my work as an “expert” in an article. The School Library Journal highlighted my sites in their publication—twice. Mentions in outlets such as the Wall Street Journal and interviews with media like the BBC continued, which undoubtedly boosted traffic to the sites. Soon, I was seeing thousands of visitors flocking to the websites each day.

By 2020, I was managing over a dozen websites when life took an unexpected turn—I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Anyone who has battled cancer knows that foremost in their mind is their mortality and what happens to their families after they’re gone. For me, I wanted to leave behind my writings, as well as the income from the websites for my wife and children. However, I knew that maintaining so many different websites would be beyond their expertise. So, I decided to consolidate all the websites into books.

As I began extracting articles from various websites and transferring them into documents, I realized I had far more written material than I had anticipated. One website alone contained enough content to fill seven full-length books! This represented literally a lifetime of writing, millions of words, and countless hours of in-depth research for the topics.

Ultimately, I realized that I could fill nearly twenty books with my writings, not including several unpublished fiction works. I am currently compiling and reorganizing these texts, subjecting them to extensive editing and conducting any necessary additional research to bring the writings up to date. The process is anticipated to take about two years.
